Remember, if you’re unsure the best bet with cutlery is to start on the outside and work your way in. They tend to be organised in regards to the courses.

And finally, learn the cutlery code. The inverted V position of the silverware means you’re just taking a break and have not yet finished the meal. Placing the utensils on the right side of the plate signals that you are done and the waitstaff can remove it. Your host/waiter will serve you from your left but will remove the food and dishes from your right.
